Holmes was given the honor of carrying the British flag at the closing ceremony of the Athens Olympics.

A home-coming parade was held in her honor through the streets of Hildenborough and Tonbridge on September1st, 2004.

Kelly Holmes won the BBC Sports Personality of the Year title in 2004.

Holmes was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire [DBE] in the New Year's Honors List of 2005.

She won a Glammy Award at the British Glamour magazine's Women of the Year Awards held at Berkeley Square Gardens, London, England on June 7th, 2005.

Kelly appeared in ITV's "Dancing On Ice" partnering Olympian Todd Sand in 2006.

Holmes presented the weekly round-up of sports news on the "BBC London News" in 2007.

She opened new sports centre at Ernest Bevin College in 2008.

Holmes starred in Five's "Superstars" as the captain of the Red Team in 2008.

Kelly was chosen as one of the names for the school houses at Rainham School for Girls, located in her native Kent in 2008.
